i dont think wade phillips is a bad hire. he knows the 3-4 defense, and thats what parcells built.
I don't hate him. But, look at this. When he first boght the Cowboys and hired Jimmy Johnson, Johnson did things his way and built a 2 time Superbowl winner. When Jones wanted to do things his way, Johnson wouldn't go along and he was fired and replaced with Switzer who won another Superbowl with the team Johnson had built. When Switzer got tired of being led in his decisions by Jones, Dallas saw a string of ineffective puppets take the helm until Parcells took the job. Bill improved the team drastically until Jones decided he need TO and to basically call the shots as far as who the QB was gonna be. Now they have Wade Phillips who will be like Gailey and Campo. They will be OK but until they get a coach with the power to coach as he chooses they'll be an also ran. I look at it like this...the game has passed Al Davis by...but Oakland has been to the big one since Jerry Jones has (with less steller players overall). Davis and Jones both need to figure out that owners own, players play, and coaches coach.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

I think he'll serve as a stop gap until a better coach can be found. He wasn't good in denver and wasn't good in Buffalo. He's one of those coaches that makes a good coordinator and an average head coach. I'd say within 2 years he's gone.

They have a good team, a young QB that has loads of potential. If they could get a coach in there that knows what he is doing, then they couldn't do that bad. Besides, they have a future hall of fame HB in LT. How bad could it be?
yeah..but now the Chargers have a team that went 14-2 last year with none of it's coordinators (o or d) returning and no head coach. They have always had talent but only 1 superbowl appearance. They are a prime example of a team that can't win a championship because of the ownership.

norv turner would be a good fit in sd i think with all the offensive weapons that they have there.
I don't know that I would say he was that bad in Buffalo. He did take them to the playoffs 2 out of his 3 seasons there. Plus, name another coach who has a winning record after being the head coach at New Orleans, and Atlanta as part of his resume.
I think Phillips will be okay, but not great in Big D. I think he is a better selection than Norv Turner too. I do agree though, I don't see this as a long 5+ year stay. I say 3, maybe 4 years max.

Norv Turner would be a bad choice for the Pound Wildcats.

goin to the playoffs and winning in the playoffs is 2 different things. All he did in buffalo or denver is just make his players work an extra week for their salaries..lol.. Mark it down, he is a stop gap coach...just like campos and gailey.

I don't disagree with you there, but so was Parcells at Dallas as far as playoffs are concerned. Like I said 3 years is about all I see of Phillips too.
